Erik Lassila is Managing Partner of Peakview Capital, heading investments and operations. He is responsible for the management and development of the firm and leads its investment committee. Erik had sixteen years of venture capital investing experience before founding Peakview, having been responsible for investments in dozens of early and growth stage companies and holding seats on 16 boards of directors. Erik has served on boards alongside partners from many top-tier VC firms, including Sequoia Capital, Accel Partners, KPCB, Benchmark Capital, Greylock Partners, Menlo Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and New Enterprise Associates.
Erik began his VC career at Mayfield Fund, a leading US VC firm founded in 1969 with $4 billion under management. He later served as a General Partner with Charter Ventures and Clearstone Venture Partners before forming Peakview Capital in 2015. Prior to his venture career Erik held marketing and management roles for several years with technology company Texas Instruments.
Erik was formerly Chairman of Young Venture Capitalist Association (YVCA), a national group with over 200 members that is now part of National Venture Capital Association (NVCA). Erik is a frequent speaker and guest lecturer at industry conferences and is a current LP Advisory Committee (LPAC) member of Menlo Ventures Fund XII and Menlo Ventures Fund XIV.
Prior to his venture career, Erik held operating roles with Texas Instruments and Motorola and earned a BS Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University and an MBA from Stanford University.
Mr. Kevin McQuillan is a Partner with Peakview Capital, bringing his experience and expertise to firm operations, fund investments and direct investments.
Kevin was a General Partner with OCA Ventures and the founding General Partner of Focus Opportunity Fund. He was also Co-Founder and General Partner at Focus Ventures, whose first fund was the 7th highest IRR fund of all time (Preqin). He is a five-time member of the Forbes Midas List and was also highlighted on AlwaysOn’s VC 100 List. To date, Kevin has been involved with more than 25 IPOs (most recently Wheels Up). Focus Opportunity Fund investments include Paydiant (acquired by PayPal), Sensity (acquired by Verizon), Shape Security (acquired by F5), Area 1 BitGo (announced an acquisition by Galaxy Dynamic Signal (acquired by SocialChorus), Inspirato, Lever, Reputation and Tact.ai.
Kevin has over three decades of experience in venture capital and focuses on investments in the Saas, internet infrastructure, AI and enterprise markets. He led Focus Ventures’ investments in Active Software (WebMethods), Agile Software, Alteon Websystems (Nortel), Aruba Networks, Commerce One, Financial Engines, Pixelworks, Ruckus and Upwork; all of which became public companies. Notable M&A transactions include Centrality (acquired by SiRF), DATAllegro (acquired by Microsoft), Kace Networks (acquired by Dell) and LogLogic (acquired by Tibco).
Kevin earned his MBA, JD and BBA degrees. He is the Chairman of the Advisory Board for Benedict Canyon Equities, a member of the Advisory Board for Silicon Valley Executive Network, a member of the Investment Committee for Western Michigan University and a Board Member of Fordham University Angel Fund.
Frank Wang is a Partner of Peakview Capital and brings experience and expertise in fundamental analysis of growth companies to the firm. With eighteen years of investment management experience, Frank has developed an analytical framework with respect to equity valuation, growth strategies, management team evaluation and portfolio management. Frank is also skilled at building research knowledge bases and investor relations.
Frank began his investment career at Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong working in Equity Capital Markets. Following Goldman, Frank joined Intel Corporation and spent three years focused on venture capital investments and corporate M&A in the telecommunication semiconductor sector. In 2003, Frank joined Lumen Advisors, a global macro hedge fund, as a Senior Analyst and Co-Portfolio Manager. Frank was responsible for managing the value-based equity long-short portfolio. Frank further developed his investment skills at another global equity hedge fund, Quantal Asset Management, where he was a Senior Portfolio Manager and Head of Research for eleven years. At both firms, Frank was responsible for generating significant alpha from the technology sector.
Frank holds a B.S. in Physics from UC Santa Barbara, an MBA from USC, and a Masters in Financial Engineering from UC Berkeley.
Mr. Steven Simonian serves as Peakview Capital's Chief Financial Officer. Steve’s responsibilities include finance, legal, administration and compliance. Steve joined Peakview in 2019 through Greenough Consulting Group, where he currently serves as President and Consulting CFO.
Prior to his current CFO roles, Steve operated his own consulting practice where he provided finance and operational services to venture capital funds, private equity funds, and operating companies.
Prior to his consulting practice, Steve served as Chief Financial Officer at August Capital. Steve previously served as Chief Financial Officer at Gabriel Venture Partners and Meritech Capital Partners. Steve earned a B.A. in Business Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Mr. Paolo Zhang is a Senior Associate at Peakview Capital. Paolo joined Peakview Capital in 2016 as one of the early members of the team. Prior to Peakview, Paolo worked at a VC fund of funds and direct investment group in Beijing since 2014. Paolo began his investment career in 2013 as an investment analyst through an internship at Hopu Investments, a leading Asian private equity firm. In 2018 Paolo was named by Forbes Asia magazine as a “30 Under 30” in the Finance and Venture Capital industry.
Paolo received a Bachelors Degree in Automotive Engineering and a Masters Degree in Engineering and Management from Polytechnic University of Turin, in Italy.
Ms. Stacy Xu serves as Peakview Capital’s Director of Operations. Stacy joined Peakview in 2015 and manages the firm’s internal operations, including legal, accounting and regulatory compliance. Stacy also assumed the role of Chief Compliance Officer in December 2019 when Peakview registered as a Registered Investment Adviser with the Securities and Exchange Commission. In this role, Stacy ensures compliance with SEC regulations as well as adherence to internal policies and procedures.
Stacy was previously employed at Vaughan de Kirby Law Offices and at formerly NASDAQ-listed company Qunar. Stacy earned her MBA from California State University.
